Login to multifunction devices

Always log in to multifunction devices with your personal account.
Functional accounts are not authorized to debit cost centers!

Three methods for login are offered at the multifunction devices:

    • Enter username and password
    • Login with chip card
    • Login with transponder [employee] (Technical retrofit required)

    Enter username and password

Use your personal OVGU account to log in, which you also use to log in to your e-mails, the LSF, myOVGU, or the e-Learning portal, and more. Enter your username in the format <username>@ovgu.de. Attention! This is not your Email address.

    Login with chip card

The following chip cards can be used to log on to multifunction devices:

    • Student ID card
    • Employee ID card (new as of winter semester 2020/21)
    • Library card (external users)
    • Mensa card of the Studentenwerk Magdeburg

Student ID card / Employee ID card

Student and employee ID cards are automatically linked to your personal account and can be used immediately for login.

Simply hold the chip card to the corresponding reading area on the MFP, to the left of the display RFID

    Library card / Mensa card

Library cards and Mensa cards must be independently linked to the personal account.

    How to make the link:

    1. Hold the chip card against the corresponding reading area on the MFP, to the left of the display RFID
    2. On the display, a message appears that the chip card is not yet linked to an account..
    3. Confirm the message.
    4. Enter the credentials from your OVGU account.
    5. You will be notified that the chip card has been successfully linked to your account.
    6. You can now use library card / Mensa card for login.

    Transponder [employees]

Transponders issued by the Security Services and Open Space Management department (K52) can be used in parallel with the employee ID card. A technical retrofit in the transponder is required here. This can be done at the IT Service Point.

Follow the steps under Library Card / Mensa Card to do this.

Attention Parallel use of transponder and Mensa card is not possible.

    Frequently asked questions

Why are two different methods (employee ID card and transponder) offered for employees?

There are a number of reasons for this. Essentially, it can be justified as follows:

    1. Some structural units do not yet have a transponder system in place.
    2. The transponder is usually always with you. The chip card is usually in the wallet, which is typically located in the office.

I have previously used a library card or the Mensa card for login. What changes with the employee ID card?

The employee ID card will also be added to your account and can be used immediately for login. You can also continue to use your previous chip card.

Can I use the library card, the Mensa card and the transponder in parallel for login?

No. Only one other chip card or the transponder can be stored in the system in addition to the employee ID card.
