General server pool
All university members (professors, staff, students) have access to central server systems as well as the OVGU data network to perform their tasks.
The General Server Pool also includes the domicil access server.
All OVGU users are given a personal storage area (home) of 10 GB when their OVGU account is activated. Access to the personal home area is possible via the CIFS/NFS protocols. When you log in to your computer with your OVGU account, your home area is automatically available to you as drive H:.
When using a decentralized Windows system, a network drive must be connected. In this case, the address is \\sthome.ovgu.de\<ovgu-account>.
Linux systems access the home area via the CIFS client or via NFS. Information on integration for Ubuntu systems can be found on this page.
The home area is available in the OVGU data network. The VPN connection must be established from outside.
Use of the above computers can only take place after logging in with the OVGU-Account.
The username and password of the OVGU account are to be used for the Windows pool as well as for the access server. For security reasons we recommend to change your password regularly.
The password change must be done via the Account Service Portal.
When selecting a new password or changing a password, the rules on this page must be followed.
